Summer Time

Williams 1973 EM
Strategy updated: August 9, 2026

Strategy

The most important feature is the clock in the center of the playfield. As long as there is time shown on the clock, indicated by the lit numbered insert, you will get another ball in the plunger lane. Because of this, the goal while you have more than 15-20 seconds is to plunge the center top lane and then drain as quickly as possible, this adds time to the clock and scores points.

When you are getting close to 0 time left, do anything possible to keep the ball alive and either make a lit center saucer or make the center top lane to add more time.

Skill Shot

Plunge to the center top lane which adds 10 seconds to the clock in the center of the playfield

Key Rules

Clock

  • In the center of the playfield is a clock with numbered inserts indicating the amount of time left in the game.

  • If a ball drains with no time left on the clock, the game ends

  • The clock begins counting down when a top lane, mid-playfield red rollover button, or center kicker is hit

  • The clock stops when the switch in the outlanes, center saucer, or ball trough at the very bottom of the machine is triggered

Top Lanes

  • The center lane awards 2K and +10 seconds to the clock, the other 2 lanes are worth 1K

Center Stop Clock Saucer

  • Complete either the SUMMER or TIME standup targets to light the center saucer, all target are worth 1K

  • Shoot the lit saucer to score 5K and +25 seconds to the clock

  • Collecting a lit saucer un-lights the completed SUMMER or TIME targets to be re-lit again

  • You may stack both completions which will immediately light the saucer after the first collect

Kicker Between Flippers

  • The kicker scores 500 when not lit

  • Completing either the SUMMER or TIME standup targets will light the kicker for 5K

  • Complete both banks of standup targets to make it worth 10K
