Crescendo

Gottlieb 1970
Strategy updated: June 22nd, 2026

The Flower Power value does not reset between balls or players, always note where the value is before plunging the ball.

Trivia: Crescendo is the 2-player version of Groovy, a 4-player game with the same rules. This is the first Gottlieb game with drop targets.

Strategy

Hit the center red bumper to increase Flower Power value to 200 or 300. Then shoot only drop targets or a lit flower lane.

Ruleset

The center red bumper changes the Flower Power value, shown on the large center flower insert. Value cycles 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500. Hitting it after the value is 500 starts the cycle over at 10.

The best strategy is to get the Flower Power value to 200 or 300 and then no longer hit the center bumper.

Hitting any of the center drop targets scores the current Flower Power value. Completing the entire bank awards an additional 500 and resets the bank to repeat.

All flower lanes and the two flower standup targets score the Flower Power value when lit

The top lanes are lit according to which ball is in play, lanes from left (1) to right (5):

  • Ball 1: center lane (3)

  • Ball 2: lane 1

  • Ball 3: lanes 1 and 5

  • Ball 4: lanes 1, 2, and 5

  • Ball 5: lanes 1, 2, 4, and 5

The remaining Flower lanes and targets are lit according to which ball is in play, however, unlike the top lanes, once lit they remain that way for the game:

  • Ball 1: outlanes and middle right lane

  • Ball 2: upper right lane

  • Ball 3: upper left lane

  • Ball 4: middle left lane

  • Ball 5: left & right standup targets just above lower pop bumpers
